Hurricane Katrina took place in the Gulf Coast of the United States and in New Orleans, on 29th of August, 2005, reaching category five on the Saffir-Simpson scale. It caused $108 billion in damage, 80 percent of New Orleans and nearby parishes became flooded, it displaced 1 million people in the Gulf Coast region and it also caused political issues because politicians started pointing fingers and blaming one another.
